The Economist is now accepting applications for the 2024 Marjorie Deane Internship. Liam Kirk, Finance Professional and Wealth Management Expert, is excited to share the details of the unique internship opportunity for finance and economics students and aspiring writers:
The Economist is calling all rising journalists, aspiring writers and students interested in specializing in Finance and Economics. The well-established publication is now accepting applications for the 2024 Marjorie Deane Internship; an experience that will encompass six months spent in London writing about Finance and Economics. Liam Kirk is especially excited to share this opportunity with readers of his Finance Professional blog series, because this internship is paid! That’s right: the successful candidate will receive payment for their work. No previous experience is required — not even a degree, by the looks of the application. To be considered for the internship, Kirk understands that candidates must submit their CV along with an article of no more than 600 words. The submitted original article must be material that would be acceptable or suitable for publication in the Finance & Economics section of The Economist.
Marjorie Deane was a British financial journalist who Wealth Manager Liam Kirk has always looked up to. She wrote for The Economist between 1947 and 1989. Deane is remembered as a pathbreaker for women in the financial journalism field.
